Skateboard for Jackie - handpainted longboard
I get a phone call at 1:30am two days before Valentine's Day 2008. I was awake so it wasn't a big deal, but I let if go to voicemail. It was Jackie's boyfriend, Josh, and he wanted to know if I would be interested in painting an old beat up longboard of his. He wanted to give it to Jackie for V-Day, but realized it might not be possible on such short notice. I told him it sounded fun and that I'd see what I could do. The timing was perfect because there actually were not any "projects" I was in the middle of. I open the gallery at noon and I was almost done with the board (on V-day) so I took it with me to work where I was able to add the final touches. I called Josh and he came by to pick it up. While chit chatting in the gallery with me he called up Jackie, who happened to be downtown and came by to meet him. She walked in and he handed her the board saying, "Happy Valentine's Day." A lot of people have given my artwork as gifts, but I am never there to witness it. Sometimes I get to hear about it later, but sometimes not. This was the first time I was able to watch the gift giving and it was really sweet to see how excited Jackie was.
Thanks Josh and Jackie. You two are awesome!
