Nic Sneak Peek #1

I will try to post at least one "sneak peek" a day until the opening. This is the first one and it's one of my personal favorites. It's called "Chicken-Fried Steak Burger" and is approximately 8.5" x 11", acrylic on wood.

Oh! Also, I made a "set" on flickr dedicated to this show. Check it out. Tongue And Teeth by Nic Rodriguez. This photo set will be updated quite a bit as the show develops and will eventually be the home to all things "Tongue And Teeth" related, like photos from opening night and available originals and prints, and other goodies.

Two New Paintings

I have a couple of new paintings that I just listed on etsy.com. Normally I save new work for upcoming shows because I like to release a lot of new stuff at once, but at the moment I'm over that. I've been painting a lot lately, but nothing else is finished at the moment. I have a lot of works in progress, including a series of "mini paintings" that are in the three inch range. Ah, I digress. Here are the two latest completed pieces.

Nowhere To Go

"Nowhere To Go"
9.5" x 11.25" - mixed media on wood
$100 - available at http://jeffclaassen.etsy.com

It Makes Me Nervous To Say So

"It Makes Me Nervous To Say So"
5" x 5.5" - mixed media on wood

Artist Spotlight: Neal Breton

Damn…I skipped out the last two Thursday's for my "artist spotlight". I apologize. In my defense, however, it's been pretty hectic with the current show in the gallery. My schedule is finally getting back to normal. Without futher ado, I'd like to introduce you to the bunny infested world of Neal Breton.

"Serious Bunny In Iceland"

"Blue Spot Rabbit"

"Red Spot Rabbit"

I'm not sure how long Neal will be in this bunny phase, so you should get them while their hot. Each one is less than $100, which is pretty awesome for cool original art. The entire series is on display right now in the "Urban Escapdes" show. Come into my gallery to see them in person or check them out online at http://claassengallery.bigcartel.com.

If you're the stalking type you can find out more nasty secrets at these internet hot spots:

Urban Escapades Update #3

Here are two more artists from the "Urban Escapades" show.

STENZSKULL

David Bond

*sidenote - I accidently ate onions (yes, accidently) and now I stink. The thing is, the "secret sauce" on the hamburger was so tasty that I didn't realize I was eating onions until the very last bite.

new little painting

I'm calling this one "Want Some Dinner". I'm not sure why. It may have something to do with being hungry when I came up with the title. Anyway, it's spray paint and india ink on an 8" x 10" paper. You can click the photo for some additional photos or to purchase.

Cold Cuts With DJ Mayo

I am in the process of updating my site and I don't just mean an "update" in the sense that I have a couple new things to add. I'm talking a mammoth of an update. A big nasty sonofabitch. In my digging around for things I need (or "want" rather) for the site I came across this commission drawing I did as a Christmas gift.

Isaac's mom came into the gallery a little before Christmas 2007 and asked if I could draw something for her son, who's a fan and has been coming into the gallery since the beginning. In a sense, I've seen the little rascal grow up. He was probably a sohpomore in high school when he first came into my shop and now he's off in Washington (state) for his higher education. He's also way into graffiti and hip-hop. He's a bright young lad. Anyway, his mom told me that he hosts a hip-hop show on the college radio called "Cold Cuts". He goes by the name "DJ Mayo" while his co-host boasts the moniker "DJ Mustard". I whipped up this 8" x 10" drawing for him.
