The Grand Opening Party: Photographed And Blogged. Finally.

WOW! The Grand Opening Party last Friday was awesome! I could not believe how many people showed up in support of my shop. It was either that or the free beer and brownies. I'm sticking with support.






Sounds were provided by DJ Wigatoni of Wollyhood Clothing, who also hooked us up with some shirts to include in our raffle. Speaking of raffle...



Check out raffle winner, Ally Thompson. She was extremely stoked on her MNKR tank!!! Ally is a hairstylist at Studio 23. If you're a slo local you should have her do your hair. To schedule an appointment call 805.781.6910.




Here's Jack pimping Pyramid Beer, which is quite delicious. I'm not even a beer drinker and I had a few cups! Behind Jack is Brandon and Susan from Pizza Fusion SLO. They provided the delicious brownie bites and cookies. So good! Sadly, I don't think we got any photos of the breathtakingly delicious cupcakes from Éclair Bakery.



Against my better judgment I picked up a microphone. No, no, no, I didn't sing (remember, I only had a few cups of beer), but I did make a couple of announcements.



At some point Steve asked me to draw on his arm. And here's how that turned out.

I decided to make a big live drawing during the party to be included in the raffle. Unfortunately, I never took a photo of the finished product, but I'm glad Steve got this shot of me working on it.

Product Review: Sakura Solid Marker

Sakura Solid Markers are back in stock! We have eight colors to choose from and they are already going fast. The colors are black, white, blue, red, green, orange, fluorescent pink and purple.


The Sakura Solid Marker is a waterproof fade resistant permanent marker that will write on almost any surface including metal, masonry, rubber, wood, plastic and concrete, etc.


I thought it would be fun to test this out on a couple surfaces so here we go!

Well, I'm impressed! It might take a little getting used to the first time you try it out. It's basically solidified paint which gives it a waxy texture. I guess I'd describe it as "slippery" or "slick", but that's a good thing. It goes on nice and smooth. As you can see from the photos the line it creates looks like a crayon, so it's not a solid line like when you use an ink marker, but it's a cool look. Also, it dries pretty fast and once it has dried it is incredibly hard to remove.

These are available for $4.50 each. For now they are only available in the retail shop. We'll try to get them on the online shop soon.

New Obey Giant Book!

Awesome! The new Shepard Fairey book "E Pluribus Venom" is finally available! I was lucky enough to get a couple first edition copies for the gallery. Come on in to check it out in person and if you're in some other part of the world you can always order it from my online shop.

I've learned some stuff about books since I started selling them a couple of years ago. 100% of the books I sell are printed in China. Not 99% of them. 100%. That's every single book I sell. This, of course, keeps the cost down for the publishers, which is great. The unfortunate trade off is that they never know exactly when new shipments of books are coming in. So, if something is in stock you have to grab it as fast as you can because it could be six months to a year before you can get it again. And a lot of these art books don't go into multiple printings, so then you've really missed out. Then you're stuck paying a super inflated price on ebay. And nobody wants to do that.

Stenzskull Tomorrow Night

Stenzskull came to the gallery this afternoon and applied his madness to the outside gallery wall. The reception/party for his solo exhibit is tomorrow night. I hope to see all your fine sexy asses there.
