You Can Find Me In Cambria!

Deer Run Arts & Artifacts

I've heard alot a good things about Deer Run and finally jumped in the car for a little scenic drive up to Cambria so I could check it out. They offer an eclectic mix of fun artistic treasures that will not disappoint. I had a good chat with the owner, Leslie, and even showed her some of my artwork. I left a couple of pieces with her, which are now on display. If you're in the area do yourself a favor and visit:

Toes Seeking Independence!

Who knows why a specific desire overcomes us? I don't. What I do know, however, is that for quite some time now I have wanted some new socks. Not the regular run of the mill white socks with the gray toes from Costco that my feet are so accostomed to. No, no, no, not by a long shot. For months now my toes have been begging to be separated. They are no longer content snuggling side by side, sardine style, like soldiers on a submarine. My toes, my precious little phalanges of the feet, crave independence. And so it goes, I could take it no longer. I walked into The Sock Drawer* and I bought me some toe socks.

Happy Toes

And we couldn't be happier. Me and my toes, that is. Or, my toes and I, for you Grammar Nazi's. Seriously, who wouldn't be happy in black and orange toe socks with skulls on them?

* At the time of posting this blog The Sock Drawer site was down, so the above link takes you to their Facebook Fan Page. To get to their official site, try www.sockdrawer.com.

My friend Teresa asked me to paint some legs for a "Battle of the Salons" event that her salon competed in. Here are a couple more photos that are far less fancy than the one Richard took above.

Hello Fellow Hip Hop Heads,

Don't forgot that Cal Poly's Hip Hop Congress is throwing a very exciting Hip Hop Music and Art show tonight, March 2, 2009, in Chumash Auditorium on the Cal Poly campus at 8 PM. We've added Jeff Claassen and Stenzskull to the art roster. We'll also have bboy's on the side getting down and of course our featured Hip Hop artists Random Abiladeze, Public Defendaz, Rahman Jamaal and B-Man on the stage.

We're trying to bring more musical diversity to campus and are working to show Cal Poly that there is a Hip Hop scene on campus. Bring your friends, your friend's friends and anybody you can. Your support will help Hip Hop Congress bring more shows to campus!

Computer Addiction

I'll have a few paintings in a show at Alpha Cult in Long Beach, CA next week. I have these two pieces I need to finish tonight, but I'm so addicted to playing on the computer that I'm putting off "work" in exchange for updating the blog for all of my millions of readers. Yes, millions! Also, it's a lot easier to make an unfinished painting than it is to make a finished one. Go ahead, ask anybody. Actually, look no further. I'll prove it to you right here and now. Below are the two things I'm working on and it would be much easier to stop now and go lay in bed and read for an hour instead of finishing them.

Ok, the second one pictured is actually very close to being finished. So close, in fact, that I probably could just stop now and nobody except me would know that it's unfinished. Here it is in its current state.

and a close up of the little bird:

Well, the show must go on, so I will disconnect the computer from the vein in my forearm and get back to "work".

Sweet dreams.

just a quick photo post

Here are some installation shots of the show at The Box Gallery. I'd really like to write some crafty phrases for each photo, but I am anxious to crawl in bed. I will write something later about the show in greater detail, but for now I hope you enjoy the photos.
